Our Story

Kivelstadt Cellars was founded for our love of amazing California vineyards. After leaving a career in consulting in his early twenties, Jordan Kivelstadt traveled the world making wine in California, Australia, Chile, and Argentina.

In 2007, Jordan made 125 cases of Estate Syrah. He drew inspiration both from his winemaking experiences in the new world and his family’s passion for European cuisine, art, and wine culture. Hence our focus became exploring the product of incredible California vineyards, with a nod toward the rich history and balance of the old world wines that came before us.

Since the inaugural 2007 vintage, our production has grown to 5,000 cases annually. We strive to create wines of intrigue that maintain a fun and approachable style and challenge the status quo of conventional California wines.

About Us

Jordan Kivelstadt - Wayward Son (and Founder)

As Founder of Kivelstadt Cellars, Jordan seeks to create wines that stand out. His passion for food and wine permeates everything he does. By day he is the Founder and CEO of Free Flow Wines, a wine on tap company focused on improving the quality and sustainability of the wine we drink in restaurants. He initially cut his teeth in wine working harvests in California, Argentina, Chile and Australia. Kivelstadt Cellars is Jordan's creative outlet and brings balance to his daily responsibilities at Free Flow. He pours all of those experiences into innovating in the wine industry and improving our wines at Kivelstadt Cellars vintage after vintage.

Sam Baron - Winemaker

Sam joined the Kivelstadt Cellars team in 2017. He met Jordan and they instantly bonded over shared winemaking and winegrowing philosophies. As Winemaker, Sam divides his time between managing wholesale sales, vineyard sourcing, production and almost everything in between. Sam's passion for restrained and elegant wines, organic and sustainable farming, and his thirst for exploring unique California vineyards makes him right at home in the Kivelstadt family.

Oscar Bendeck - Executive Chef

Hailing from South Central Los Angeles, Oscar Bendeck began his culinary career in country clubs, moving quickly through the ranks in various kitchen positions, and establishing a passion for global cuisine. Oscar graduated from Le Cordon Bleu and worked at the iconic Sportsmen’s Lodge in Studio City. Over the course of two decades, he has refined his cuisine and his love for wine. His career has driven him to cater for some of the most viewed Sports & Entertainment events throughout the country including the US Open, Pacific Life Open, GRAMMYs, Emmys, NASCAR, NHRA, IndyCar races, NBA/NHL/NFL playoffs and championship games. Most recently, Oscar has found himself transplanted here in wine country, and is eager to helm the kitchen of the first wine garden in Sonoma at Kivelstadt Cellars.

Kailey Priest - Marketing Manager

Originally born in SoCal, she made the trek up North to settle in the better half of the state. After completing two majors and a minor at Sonoma State University, Kailey followed her love for wine and food and intertwined it with her passion for all things public relations, social media, and marketing. Kailey began her career working at Public Relations Agency, &co.pr in Napa where she extablished her love for the industry. Wanting to continue her growth and further her knowledge within the field, Kailey sought out a position with room to florish and create her own, quickly finding her home at Kivelstadt Cellars.

 Kaleb Kager- Director of Hospitality

Kaleb began his experience in hospitality working the restaurant floor of V. Mertz Restaurant in Omaha, one of Nebraska’s most renown fine dining establishments. After receiving his Certified Sommelier certification from the Court of Master Sommeliers at the age of 21, Kaleb followed his enthusiasm for wine with a move to the West Coast and worked as Head Sommelier at San Francisco’s two-Michelin star restaurant, Lazy Bear. Kaleb joins Kivelstadt Cellars as the Director of Hospitality, overseeing the tasting room, wine list, and service standards. Kaleb’s excitement for sharing the joy of food and wine with others was a perfect fit for the new restaurant. Kaleb’s sommelier experience provided him the opportunity to work with the wines of the world, and understand where the Kivelstadt wines fit within that stage, and something he is eager to share with the Kivelstadt team and guests.

Amber Lesniewski - Tasting Host and Wine Club Coordinator

Alongside her love of wine, she also has a passion for crystals and has begun her studies to become a Gemologist! In her spare time you can find her spending time with her pup Callie, going to the beach or hiking outdoors, and of course going wine tasting!
